On being home more often:
My dad always says, remember to be kind to each other when we’re gone.
My mom says, remember I keep the measuring spoons in the second drawer to the left
And remember to divide all my jewelry because
Gold isn’t cheap.
Only we’ll be looking for how to roll the grape leaves tight
Or fix a tear in our favourite jeans
And mend the garden in the spring
We’ll be looking in boxes and on shelves for everything they’ve said
But knowledge doesn’t transfer that way,
You need to be here for that.
She’s right, Gold isn’t cheap.
